I have a 2001 explorer that has an intermittent problem with the rear wiper motor. Sometimes it works more often it does not. One way it works every time is when I pull the inner rear panel skin to work on it. I have thought about leaving the panel off but she who must be obeyed will not here of it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have the same problem on mine. You can check the fuse's otherwise you will need to replace the motor. There are numerous people with this issue and some with the wiper blade not touching glass through an entire cycle.

It is likely you will need to replace the motor eventually. The reason it works when you take the panel off is because it probably gets loosened up when you're opening and closing the gate.

As others suggest I'd go with the Motorcraft motor. It's the most expensive option, but I've tried a reman motor that's lasted 6 months, and a new Dorman motor that's on the way out.

Yeah I have the problem with the wiper not making contact with the glass. Is this fixable, or is the rear wiper there for decoration now?!
