my rear wiper just quit. checked the fuse under the hood and it's good. also, i thought the arm might have heen pinched between the glass and hatch, it wasn't. does that leave only the wiper motor?

Did you check the power at the rear wiper switch?

no, not that. i've '"slammed" and tried to manipulate the arm but not that. I'll try though. I would much rather spend that $ on som kc lights....sheeeeeeesh.

Good luck... my rear wiper works only when it wants too. Most of the time it doesn't work, but occasionally it will turn on!

There are two relays under the hood, one for wiper up, one for wiper down.

Your back door must be firmly closed, and the back hatch glass must be firmly closed. There are switches on the door and the window that tell the general electronics control module (GEM) that they are closed.

If the those switches are closed, then the circuit is allowed to operate by the GEM when you turn on the switch on the dash, and the relays switch the motor between up / down.

Having said all that, its usually the motor, and rebuilt motors with lifetime replacement warranties can be had for 40 or so at your local parts store. Call around - not everyone carries them.

While it's possible that the GEM isn't getting the signal that the window and door are closed, the door ajar warning should sound and the dome light would be on.

Odds are it's the motor. The relay is a possibility, but not likely. 95+ percent of the time it's the motor.
