projector lens kits with halo

What are the tubes that come with the kit for? Looks like a silicone or something.

ya they are some kinda sealing compound they want you to remove all the old sealant from the headlamp and use there stuff but i sealed it with the same stuff that was originally on the headlamp just heated the old stuff back up and it worked fine

I wish they sold only the projectors. I have an HID kit - just need the lens.

How is the road pattern. Does it light up the road well?

ya me to i had a hid kit before buying the projectors. as for the pattern on the road is great, high beams are amazing it is hard to get used to driving with projectors the cutoff is wierd i dont really understand the whole Z cutoff line it makes for a pain trying to see on the drivers side as that is the lowest part of the cutoff. i tryed taking some pics but nothing came out anygood

These are not bad for use with a kit. I must say. Quick and easy, no drilling required. Expensive for what you get compared to a retrofit and the output is worse than the worst OEM HID projectors, but still, there is no glare, you get pretty nice high beams, you don't bug traffic coming on to you, you can use a kit, etc. For me since I am a DIYer, if I already had the headlight open, I would do a retrofit, but I can see where someone who doesn't want to tkae the time to do a retrofit would go this route. Just remember, PLEASE use a wiring harness on your HIDs. I don't want to see anyone fry the stock harness on here.


So in conclusion:

Pros:
Nice cutoff
Easy install
No modification to the reflector bowl.
Nice high beams.
No Glare
Rotational adjustment seems to be already taken care of.

Cons:
Bad hotspot (uneven light spread)
Width is so-so at best
Expensive for what you get, but much better ROI than just a kit alone.
You STILL have to open the headlights.

no problem do what you will with the pics

they are not bad for the $100 i payed for them it beats being flashed on the road. and as far as a regular retro fit i would have no problem attempting it but the wiring part was what i was concerned with

As for wiring a retrofit. If you ever do decide to go down that route. I can help you out all you want with the wiring. It's actually not that hard, just a bit over whelimg at first. In fact I just redid the wiring on my retrofit this weekend, to move things around a bit.

well they are still working great i havent had any problems i am about to upgrade to a 55w system instead of the 35w one i currently have i cant hurt to get some more light out in front of me i have not been flashed at all and no trouble with the cops either still enjoying them

Hopefully the projectors can handle the increased luminous flux (not heat). 55W is hard on a lot of larger projectors, let alone one this small, especially 55W kit bulbs (which run VERY VERY hot which makes things worse).

Great to hear. Over all do you still think the HIDs in the projectors are much better than the stock bulbs. I have HIDs and am thinking of adding these projectors to try and tame the glare.

BTW... Anyone ever take temps of the lights. I doubt the 55w HID is any hotter than the stock 55-65w ones.

stock size hid bulbs put out a lot of light but i was always worried about the glare i got flashed a lot and aiming the headlights down was not option this just defeats the purpose.i am waiting for a couple months for some snow and see what i get as for temps i dont have the 50w yet but i can take the temp of my 35ws and see what they put out

55W bulbs HAVE to run cooler than 55-60W halogen bulbs.
Etotal = Elight + Eheat.

Therefore if the same wattage is used and one puts on more light it must put out LESS heat. Similarly, the reverse is also true. That being said, the problem with the higher wattage HID's are the luminous flux. The sometimes the chrome can't handle the increased radiation in the blue to UV radiation. It breaks the bonds between the chrome and the plastic and/or causes the chrome to irreversibly oxidize. That's what people don't realize, that blue peak, that causes the nice blue color in the HIDs ALSO is high enough energy to damage the bowls of reflectors and projectors. This is why I said luminous flux and not heat. Heat DOES tend to make this worse (as with most chemical reactions). That's why I mentioned heat later on.

As for controlling glare, these projectors ARE very good at that. They are night and day better than a kit in a halogen reflector (bleh).

this very well will be what i end up doing in my housings as i want HIDs again, but i don't want to deal with having to re-aim everything.

are the bulbs themselves interchangeable? or do you have to re purchase theprojector if a bulb goes out?

the bulb that fits in the projector is rebased hid bulb, so yes just the bulb
