OK, so I pulled what I believe to be an M5OD transmission from the junkyard on sunday from a 91 x 4x4 for my 91 x auto 4x4 (already all converted with a bronco tranny underneath, wow I cooked out there from 9 to 4, that was a painful pull. I already bought a new seal for the front of the tranny, it was a little wet by it but dont know if its from the slave line I pulled out or not. I honestly could not tell if it was leaking from the seal or not but I will feel better replacing it. anything else I need to do? The tail end for my T-Case looks fine, dry and no wobble. The front shaft for the clutch though feels a bit wobbly to me. Even NAPA told me its fine, but it worries me. A bearing I could replace? Also the shifter feels fine, im able to spin the input and get output on all gears by hand. No difficulty on that so that so I hope its good. I also have to find a kit for the shifter because I can lift the shifter ball up and down about 1/4" to 3/8", so pretty worn there, could just been hard shifting by the driver? to bust that up? I'm keeping the flywheel and getting it resurfaced as its different from the bronco one underneath (bigger around). Getting a new slave and NAPA says the friction plate and pressure plate look new and they are very shiny and meaty. But my worry is when you go to bolt the clutch together, you only have about at most a 1/4" gap if lucky before the pressure starts. Seems like a little bit to me but im used to small import cars, and I have noticed that driving the explorer it seems to have a very short throw on the engage and disengage of the clutch. So Please Any And All Advice Will Be Aprreciated and once Im done with this swap, I hope you guys are stilling the vinyl cuz those are awesome! (By the way when this thing was my dad's, he is the one that did the swap to a bronco 5 speed. its about as rigged as it gets and thats why when I got it with a bad slave I decided to do it right).
