I just painted the area behind the grill flat black and used the zip ties that came with it

Hey dirtydog i love the way that looks but how do u get the the hood latch?

i welded a bar extending the latch down to the hole in the bumper. i have a 94 though. ir you could stick a screw driver through the grill.

i got a grille that looks exactly like dirty dog's but i didn't trust the zip ties that came with the kit. what i did was go to the local hardware store and got little L brackets, washers, small head screws that i ground two sides into to fit between slots in grille and self tappers to go into factory grille. i cut out the guts(center) of the grille because it showed through and ta-da, custum install completed. i live in an area that the grille would have been stolen otherwise i would have zip tied it into place and i do have a spare grille for winter use. i do live in canada. as for the latch, i access it with a long thin screwdriver but i plan on changing my latch to a 98 style where the second catch is accessable through the gap between hood and grille once you pop hood. hope this helps. oh, i also noted that the mounting points for latch on newer style are different, so new hood or new holes, i'll figure it out later.

Thanks:) On my '99 the hood latch is accessed from under the hood once it is popped. I believe they did away with the grill access hood latch in '98.

You might wanna see if you can get the latch hardware from a wreckers from a '98 and up and replace yours. I don't know if it is a direct bolt in or not though.
