i am going to put in a switched relay for my amplifer fans tomorrow and i was wondering if i could hook the amplifer remote leads up to the relay itself so if i want to have the amplifers off i can flip the switch turning the fans and amps off.

The power from the relay will come directly from the battery.
if anyone can help me with this i'd appericate it. I think it will work fine i just want to verfiy it before i cause lots of headaches.

thanks
ryan

I don't see why not, just make sure you have the correct size relay to hold the amperage of the fans and the amp remote(which is very small amount).

Try this link:

Scroll down on the narrow window to the right until you find "Cooling Fans" and click on that...I believe it has the info you're looking for. Good site....I know it helped me out a lot when I was doing all of my own audio installation

Good luck,

i did the same thing, i just passed me blue (amp on) wire through a toggle and peechy i like it alot, i like in a community so when i enter i flip the switch so i can stil hear my tunes.

so it appears i can run the remote wire to a relay....then off the really run the fans and the amp on/off...

all powered by a 12v input

you dont even need a relay. Just run a switch off your ignition wire from your hu. I have both my amps and 4 fans hooked up like this. If you want to run it directly from the battery just put a fuse holder on the wire with a 20 amp fuse and it will work fine also.
