1995 Explorer XLT
Hi guys!

I just joined this site today and am VERY impressed. Everyone seems so friendly and willing to help out.

Well, here's my story. I have a 1995 Ford XLT and was told recently (by Ford) that I needed two (2) lower ball joints. They told me that I had to have them done before I could get my inspection sticker which is due this month, FIGURES, or it wouldn't pass inspection! Anyway, I'm trying to get an estimate of how much this costs, as I already had Ford put a radiator in and was blown away at the cost. So, I'd rather go somewhere else. (Hey, I'm a girl, whaddya want). Anyway, I've tried calling some mechanics. They've told me that I'd have to bring the car in so they could see it first? Is this true? Why can't they quote me a price? Sounds fishy to me. Maybe not. Anyway, one guy told me he'd have to see it as well, but if I wanted a "ballpark" figure, he said around $500. If any GUYS out there can help this poor naive GIRL, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks! Love this site!

ball joints

First of all welcome to the site!I would say no more than 275 for both lowers they are not that hard to do just time consuming, the reason they want to look at it is they want to try and find anything else and bilk you some more cash.Be careful just tell them to quote you for the lowers and nothing else.Hope this helps Brad in iowa
