I got my new Explorer Saturday and the rep then laid a bombshell on me. It seems that he cannot find a way to make the text message system to work with the iPhone. That is the bit if you get a message you can ask the car to speak it out for you.

I have never of this before in the YouTube videos. Does anyone know of a fix if it is true?

Correct the text messages will not be read through the system. Android devices will (not sure about others).

Isf you have the new upgrade 3.5.1 it will read the message out to you from iphone, but i will not let you speak one out, you can only use the pre-set message in the mft already. I have the iphone 5 and when someone sends me a text i can hear it out the cars speaker, so check what software you have.

I have 3.5.1 and an iPhone 5 with 6.0.1 and I can't get the Explorer to read my texts.

It tells me "Messaging via bluetooth not supported" or something like that.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU BUT MINE'S WORK FINE.I CAN'T DICTATE A TEXT BUT IT WOULD READ BACK TO ME, TRY SET IN THE CAR HAVE SOMEONE TEXT YOU WHILE YOU are in the caR and see what happen play with thePHONE SETTING WHILE IN THE CAR

Well I just tried to get text messaging to work on my Explorer. It is brand new only got it Saturday. When I enabled Show Notifications as in YouTube video recommended I lost the phone completely. I disabled that as before and got my phone back but I did receive a comment that "Currently connected phone does not support text messaging via Bluetooth" I assume that this is because the company phone uses AT&T.

This bums me a great deal and is the only thing on the car I don't like.

I'm on AT&T, I have an iphone 4S, latest OS and MFT on 3.5.1 and I do receive text messages. I had to power down my phone, turn it back on, do a fuse pull on MFT, then follow the video instructions for it to work.....but it is working.
