ok i have a question, i just installed the 5.5 superlift and the front is riding higher than the rear, i guess the suspension has to settle but should it really take that long, also anybody that installed the lift themselves, are your sway bar links rubbing on the coil springs? and also why does the steering feel like it did when i first had the body lift on, like when you turn the steering wheel wont flow back like it should, thanks.........Travis

yes, they did. also, your rear springs may be shot - and need to replace. Drive it a little bit longer - it will settle.

it needs an alignment.

i had an alignment done to it but the guy said its the best he could do, the tires are still a little slanted, should i take it back in and say i just had an alignment but its not good enough.

The EXACT same thing happened after I lifted mine...but when I had my shop check it, it turned out that the leaf springs in the rear (which you believe to have sagged) had not, and the truck was actually level. It only appeared to be sagging. If you want, you can add another leaf and re-arc them for an additional cosmetic lift in the rear, which is what I did, and it looks and drives perfect now. Your truck may have sagged, but you might want to make sure that it doesn't just APPEAR to be.

no i measured it today and it is more an inch lower in the rear, i went wheelin today to see if it might settle out but no such luck, im gonna see whats up with my springs, if i need new ones or what i dont know, but the thing that kills me is the steering, i dont know why its hanging up when i turn like its having a tough time turning the tires

I've heard of some people using steering pumps from an F150 for more help turning large tires. I assume you have a steering extension with that lift: are you sure it's not binding?

its the way the steering felt when i got a 3inch body lift. like binding up, it happens when i turn the wheel and i kind of have to force it go back, at a certain point it binds up.

hey guys sorry to interupt but i have a few questions that you might have some awnsers to. i'm completly new to 4x4 and just bought a stock 91' XLT

1) i'm planning to put a 5.5" lift on ($761 at rocky mountian suspention) and i was wondering if you might have noticed anyother problems after your lifts(besides the steering)?

2) i was also going to slap some 32's on it and heard that regearing is a must. how should i regear for the best low end power?

thanks

well your car will be out of alignment big time, if you didnt get the extended radius arms your sway bar links might rub on the coil springs, i didnt run into to many problems, which gears do you have, see i thought i had 3.73's but no i have 3.27's thats why i was wondering with 31's i was having troubles climbing hills. but if you have 3.73's its a good ideas to do it but you wont need them right away

I've been looking into this 5.5 lift and almost everybody recommends the Superlift steering kit. Supposed to make a big difference. I'd check into it. Also, regarding the alignment...I'm sure somebody here (who's done it) can confirm this but I think that some year X's need extra plates of some sort to get the alignment right. Do a search. Good luck
