Hi all, i have a question about the bimetal sensor and preheating the engine during startup. I bought a KKM a year ago and put it on my explorer. I had no problems whatsoever with the filter and it actually made my car run smoother and pull harder. My father made me take the air filter off because he said it didnt allow the engine to heat up properly. Now, i want to make my case to him that the filter doesnt hamper engine startup and doesnt really hurt the engine anyway, whether its hooked up to the bimetal sensor or not. I need opinions or statements from people who have the kkm or such similiar filters in an effort to prove my case, or disprove it.

By the way: my car is a 1994 ..4wd......140,000 miles on it... So also, do you really think this filter is going to hurt it with that many miles on it? Im only going to keep it for about 2 more years.

The thermostat is what allows the engine to warm up properly.
