- 2016 Ford Explorer Sport
I’m having the same issue. 2016 Explorer Sport, Certified. Ford estimates between 2K and 2.5K depending on dealership.I just took my 2016 sport in, and they came back with the rack and pinion issue. it has 55k miles on it (out of warranty), and they want $2300 to fix it. I assume the dealer mark-up is insane. Anyone have experience replacing this? I have my own mechanic on the side, but I still feel like this is going to cost a good chunk.
Part covered under Certified Warranty but only for 12K. We’re past that. Made a little noise at 55K. At 70K people stop and look during right hand turns. It’s loud. Have multiple calls into Fords Customer Assist line. Your first contact is your agent. PERIOD. Mine steadfastly did not return 4 of my calls. Another sent him an email and carboned the Boss. Got a return call then. Still waiting to see what they’ll do.
