So I am looking at a ranger for parts and/or Daily Driver, since my explorer has the 4.0. Its one from the years that the front end looks like the 1st gen explorer front end. It runs(so I am told) and has few problems. On personal inspection it very clean. It also has the utility bed with the boxes on the sides and a covered inside. Its labeled as Ranger Custom. And since I know little about Rangers, I tought Id ask you guys. I might be able to pick this up for like $350. Tell me what you think.

Thanks,
Jake

...What exact year and is it 4wd???...You may be looking for Dana 35 parts for your X only to find out it has a Dana 28...:dunno:

So we're looking at a '89-'92 Ranger. With a utility bed, I would think it's a V6, but a custom is bare bones work truck. Most likly a 2.9, should be easy to tell from under the hood.

The owner is my friends father. I have been kindly informed that it has no brakes by the son(no explaining). Though next week I should get a thorough look at it(on wednesday). I will be able to tell the axle then. Also, is the front bumper the same design? Because after my brakes failed, I am in need of a front bumper which is not destroyed. Not to mention that little filler panel, one headlight bezel, and assorted other small things. See my plans include if possible the axle swap, then the newly 2wd ranger(with a smaller engine) would become my DD. If not possible to swap then it still might be my DD. And that leaves the explorer as a weekend vehichle. The parts I need aren`t all 4x4. Hope that clears it up.

Jake
