Doing a v8 swap in a ranger. Used a 99 explorer doner. Rebuilt motor and having some trouble finding a cam that will work with the eec-v. Motor is basically stock and trying to get some MPG out of it. Using the 4R70W and a 3.73 gear. Any info would be appreciated.
thanks

Actually, my x cam in a 347 ran with the stock tune--ran pretty good too!

Others here have used an e cam with no tuning. The stock PCM is very adaptive, and I think if you are going to be metering less fuel in you will be fine.

You might want to use an xcal device loaded with tune files though. It will help, and will be invaluable when troubleshooting all of the codes you will get after the swap. There is bound to be a bug in there, or, something not plugged in.

How are you dealing with the PATS?

I thought the 94 ranger had a different dash then the 95 and up rangers. If the dash was different did the new one just bolt in?

Dash is different but the cab is the same width. I had to weld in mounts for dash and put in overhead console and i also changed part of the firewall and put the explorer heater box in it also. Took some work but really not a big deal.
