Rattle in roof

When i hit lower bass my roof rattles a lot. It is quite loud. One of my friends who has an x also said that all of them do it once an audio system is added. He said there are weak roof welds or something. Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, do you know what causes it?

My roof flexes a couple inches, that is what causes the rattling up there in my car.

I wouldn't say "week welds" the rood is solidly welded to the frame, BUT what is weak is a giant area of sheet metal; AKA the ROOF, get up there, push it in and out with your own hands and weight, thats' what the sub is doing to you inside the car. just a funny thought. Be careful with your hearing.

I dont think there is enough bend in the roof to warrent such a rattle. I have the same roof rattle. Plus, if you look on the roof, atleast on mine, they have the roof rack things there attached to the roof (in the center of it). I think most of the rattling comes from inside the ex, or related to the roof rack... not the roof itself.

I have dynamated all the plastic panels on the inside, make no difference in the outside rattling. I think its just something we have to live w/ unless your interested in stripping your Ex down to its frame and assmebling it piece by piece making sure nothing rattles...

my roof rattles all the time, not from my system but just going over bumps and whatnot... its soo annoying

It might just be the overhead light, mine moves visably. When i hold it there is nothing rattling on the roof, just the hatch handle, door pulls, door ahndles, door locks. thats about it haha

thanks guys, i was just checking. It does seem to rattle a lot but i will just have to deal with it.

Check your sunroof shade. Mine rattles (audio off, just driving down the road) with the shade open. If I close the shade the rattle disappears. I need to check and see what has come loose as this started about mid last summer.
