Recently I have had some time to really dig into my tranny.Today I finally got a chance to get the pump off from the bellhousing.Up until this point I have found no visible issues to lead me to a cause of my failure.

What I found was that the leading edge fit on the pump inner gear has been rounded by the TC.The TC could not have been seated into the gear for this to happen. What I also found was that I am supposed to have the TC that came with the tranny replacement. The TC that I have has no sign of any wear that it spun in the pump. This would explain why I had no tranny action at all,but it leaves me with way to many questions that probably won't have answers unless I tear the replacement unit out of my truck.

So much for good honest service!

Aside from that, it looks like I have a very rebuildable unit but I am really at odds as to which way to get er done.I have way more than a rebuild into this thing as it is and I really can't afford to make a mistake on my virgin voyage,I have to make this one count. What do ya think?

I can send you replacement pump gears and you can try just replacing those and properly inserting the TC and go from there really cheap.

Thanks Glacier,I have the thing torn right down to its birthday suit,VB and All.
What do you think of me sending my VB to you and give it a good looking at to see if this is a good chance to get it done right.I would hate to just throw it back together at this point. Thanks,Ron

Not sure what you would want me to do..... help me.

Glacier, I sent you a PM.

We have an update. My girl who lives in the Big City told me about a shop that people were impressed with, so I drove in and told them my story. They took me right in and started doing the right thing.Watching these guys run the computer made me realize that all shops are not created equal.

He instantly noticed that my differential speed sensor was gone.Changed it out but didn't solve the problem. He decides that taking a look at the VB gaskets is warranted do to the fact that he felt that we had a pressure drain.Sure enough, one of the VB gaskets was torn, still didn't satisfy the problem.

We discussed the situation and they felt that there was nothing wrong with the tranny that there is an outside issue running the show and that we should pull the unit and start from scratch,so we did.

Pulling the tranny reveiled that the flywheel had been beat on and was bent quite bad causing everything to wobble around. The pump gears took a beating but not enough to effect the integrity of the pump and for good measure the TC is going in the scrap pile for a new one.The TC had to come in UPS, so later today I should know what is what.

They had no doubts after seeing the flywheel that this has been the culprit all along.I hope they are right!

I got my truck back today, all is well, finally!!!

Evidently the flywheel on the replacement engine was never checked. There are two very obvious points on the flywheel where someone had used a pry bar to remove the transmission and warped it pretty good.

I quess there is a lesson to be learned from all of this,I just wish it didn't cost so much!!!!A liitle attention to detail from the get go would have saved everyone a lot of pain, anxiety, frustration and money!!

It also goes right along with how we approach our troubleshooting and how so many times we walk right by the problem simply because we don't get back down to the very basics.Enough sermon, but if you have wrentched for awhile you know exactly what I am talking about.

Thanks to all that threw in their 2 cents.I have gained a ton of knowledge from you fellas,I really appreciate it.Ron
