Hi Guy's.
I have a 2003 Sportrac with rear air. It is seldom used as my tools never complain about being hot. The other day I turned the AC on and it sounded as if a hampster cage had jump it's tracks and took off. Just pryor it sounded as though a leaf or something may have been caught in the blower. Not likely but that's what it sounded like. Being half gorilla and not wanting to tear anything up thats not already torn up , I wondering what the best way to access this area would be. I haven't tried yet but it would seem removing the arm rest and console storage bin would be the way to go. The old boy is 10 years old and i'm tring to fix the few issues it has. Thanks a bunch.

this hamster wheel of death sound was when you turned on the forward or rear air? if it was the forward unit then it sounds like the blower motor is shot. by the way the blower motor has a wheel attached to push the air that suprisingly looks like a hamster wheel

Hi, thanks for the reply. The noise came from the rear of the console behind the storage bin. I felt a strong vibration when it happened too. The AC in the front is working fine.

Update: just for giggles today I reached back and turned the rear air on. And it now works!!! Don't ask me how but I believe it must have been Devine intervention. Soar least for now all is well.

well if it goes out again then that hamster wheel i described is under your armrest.
