Hello all~
I have a 1994 XL 4X2 5 speed stick. Basically when I park it with the parking brake and in gear, and then go to leave and take the brake off, back up, and then resume forward, after rolling a bit I hear a CLUNK from the back. what I'm thinking is the shoes are binding on the backing plate (I.E. need a cleaning and lubing) and then when I roll they pop loose. Any ideas would be welcomed. I put in new U joints thinking it was them and it didn't help.

does it only do it when you use the parking brake? It is very possible the brake springs may need replaced, too.. along with, of course, lubing of the moving components in the drum brakes.
If it only does it when you use the parking brake, it is very possible it's just the parking brake finally releasing.
