Rear End swap

I know it's been done newer into older, but I'm thinking of going older into newer, taking the rear end from a 92 EX and putting into a 2001 Sport Trac. Are there any issues I need to know about in doing this. Both have drum brakes.

I'm almost 99% sure that the sport trac will be different. I know the axle shafts are..(IIRC)

I'm wanting to do the same but with my 02 Ex. Can anybody school me on the differances in the rear axle from different generations? Can I pull an axle off a 2nd gen and put it on a 3rd?
