Rear Hatch Power Lock Actuator Broken. How do I replace?

Well I went to lock my truck tonight and I heard a grinding noise coming from the rear hatch. Noticed the hatch was not locking as well. So I take everything apart and it appears the actuator is broken. I unplugged it but had to bend the small metal rod to get the hook of the loop. I am looking at replacements right now on eBay but want to know how I put the hook on the end of the small metal bar through the plastic loop when I go to re-install it?
