410Custom's builds a 2007 Ranger V8 - custom truck build - Project "Ranger Premier"

Thank you! I love these comments they keep me going!

We are back on the 07 now
Wheels have arrived. I will say these were not our first choice but the methods we wanted are like $400 each… these wheels fit the criteria and were more “in budget”
Ballistic 17x9, 5 on 4.5, proper backspacing fit and finish. I think I shopped for the right wheels for 3-4 weeks? It can be exhausting! Eyeballs have viewed about 700000 rims, prices, sizes, availability…. I am now up on all the latest offerings for lifted ranger wheels.
Prices are crazy these days! But if we look hard enough…. Well Finally the right deal popped up on my screen. Before this I’ve always just been the used wheel store or junk yard grab what you can get type lol lol

I’m headed to in town shop to mount them up on our new to us tire machine

Let’s get this truck DONE!!!

These are going to look sick!!!

Next up I will mount the rear king shocks, wash the truck again and install the new wheels and tires…

There are more parts in the mail… those ones are coming freight, stay tuned! Final rounds of this build happening now!!!
this has gotta be as close to a dream truck as it can get... i think? only exception would be one of those 70s f250s ;) gotta pinch myself real quick

Crocs is a Colorado company when they first came out we bought stock
I have since sold the stock but I still love the crocs! Can’t wear boots out on the boat lol lol

Ain't that the truth. I'm tastefully lowering my 99 4x4 and wheels is definitely one of the issues. Want something with truck or muscle car styling in a 17" or 18" wheel, and will look good with a 27-29" diameter tire. Near everything out there is car/FWD styling and specs, or too busy. I've almost found a few that came close in both style and price, but had one flaw, not symmetrical. Usually meaning an odd number of spokes or holes. I like 5 spokes, matches the lug pattern, anything over that has got to be an even number or it just looks off to me.

I kind of like the Work Meister wheels that Sarah-n-tuned (YouTube) put on her 94 Ranger, but the $3000+ price ain't going to happen.

Some teaser pics she’s outside dust blown off and 35’s mounted first time…

Looks fantastic! Those tires really fill the wheel wells. Do you think you will need to bump up the ride height?

Looks great!

Maybe I'm not supposed to talk about it, but I've got to ask. Is the front supposed to look that much wider?

Yes
When the mounts are at a fixed point, the only way to get more travel is to go out and down. Longer (wider) control arms creates more range of suspension travel. Wider is also more stable.

@JoshT What @BKennedy said. The alternative is a full custom long-travel, which is, uh, less than ideal for driving on road.

This is a Mid travel kit plus 2.5” per side or 5” wider then a stock ranger up front

I am planning to bring the rear up at least 1/2” and the front 1.5”.
With the winch mounted on the front bumper it is no shock she is sitting just a tad low!
Tire clearance will be the next mod… well one of them

As you can see the lower control arms are near flat right now 1.5” will only help

Working on rear shocks rear shackles rear hitch rear bumper rear camera
Replace side mirror drivers side glass
Install hood and button up under hood wiring
Address tire clearance
And lots more

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! before buying the toyo AT considered the RT, but like the snow grip of the AT. essentially my dream ranger right there!

Good to know, but the width difference would drive me up a wall.

I just think if I were building it for me, I think that I would like to have the front and rear track widths closer to equal at ride height.

I understand this truck is form and function leaning more towards function. I tend lean a little more towards form myself. I'm not trying to tell how to build this truck, I just would have made a different styling choice. It probably would be the dead wrong choice for Eddie's truck and it's intended usage.

I'm not building it for me though. Heck I'm not even getting my own stuff built, so I should probably knock off the keyboard critiquing.

410 turned Eddie's vision into reality here. If you had 10 people doing this build, you would have 10 variations. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that Eddie is getting what he asked and paid for.

Some spacers in the rear will help even things up
My bronco ii is about 4” wider up front then in the rear and it has been that way for 20+ years the extra width up front really handles the corners and dips/whoops
The additional width up front was never a concern for me, like a snowmobile or slingshot, they handle awesome..
The big tube 8.8 is strong enough to handle some good wheel spacers that would help with the stance. Tire coverage and traction are the main concerns now ;)
Big update coming for this truck, lots
Of cool new parts are here or on their way then it will be front and center for the final push

We struck a deal I’m keeping the ballistic wheels and these new methods showed up for Eddie’s rig

@410Fortune New wheels look nice, but I didn't see any thing wrong with the old ones... personally. Doesn't matter either way, nobody can touch this build! Don't think I've ever seen a cooler Ranger, although there are a few nice ones local to me!

@JoshT My truck was built around the stance (see profile if curious) and the decision for stiff front springs was made to accommodate the extra leverage caused by the extra width. No regrets. Originally I was going to run 1.5" spacers on all four corners, but that got in the way on rear flex, so I now run 3" wider in front, and like @410Fortune am actually quite pleased with the aggressive handling characteristics it offers. Mad oversteer. Feels kinda weird in 4wd, like it just claws forward in the direction you point it.

@JoshT You could always use a 8.8 out of an F150 to get a wider tracking width on the rear.
Which makes me think of a question. Has anyone built an Explorer or Ranger body onto a 5.0 powered 4wd F150 chassis? Frame and driveshaft length adjustment would be about the only major thing to contend with?
