Rear quarter panel

New member here! I bought this 2000 Explorer Sport from my little brother, who hydroplaned and went into a ditch. This is the only evidence of the experience.

I need suggestions on how to get this fixed! It won’t allow my truck to properly close and lock.
Any help and advice would be appreciated!

See where the lift gate is interfering with the opening. Is the latch no longer lining up to the striker? Or are you contacting the body with the rear hatch? You may be able to get it to latch by playing with the adjustment on the rear hinges latches and strikers. Otherwise you may need to look into pushing or pulling the body back into shape. Maybe spreading the opening back out with a jack?

Does the rear hatch still clear the bumper?
