I've had a 5.5 SOA lift in my 92 for about a year now and I can't seem to keep the overload (shortest) leaf from twisting. It eventually hangs up on the gas tank skid. My stock leaf clips are mostly gone. And it's a pain in the ass to beat it back into place on the trail. I had heard of using U bolts tack welded to the short spring to keep all the leafs lined up. But I haven't been able to find U bolts the right width. I was also thinking of replacing my leafs with new ones as these have 188k. But I can't seem to find a good sping that doesn't provide any extra lift. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

discount auto/advanced has a set in their generic suspension products (you know by the $20 lift bloacks and coil spacers) that is a leaf spring holder. basically it is a squared ubolt that has a plate and threaded ends so that you can clamp them down but all i did was get the ubolt and weld it face down on my top spring - covering all springs. i think its $8-$10. i was having same issue and this solved it well for me. (if/when i find cord to my digi camera i will gladly take a pic)

here is somethig i found on the web but not exactly what i am talkign about

I have the exact same thing on my X. But I did not weld them I just bolted them on. I did it for the same reason, my gas tank rock shield.

mine were not turning in the same direction. both of mine would turn towards the pumkin. im sure that there is a phyisics/geometry lesson in here somehwere but i don tknow what it is.

I'd love to see a picture of your u bolts. Hurry.;) Those pictured are only 1 3/4 wide. Bummer.
