2008 Explorer XLT
Hey everybody. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT with the SOHC 4.0. I just finished pulling the motor and replacing all the timing components and am now working on the suspension. I replaced all the shocks and also the upper and lower ball joints and tie-rod ends. Today i just changed out the leaf springs to get rid of "butt sag" and it really didn't change the way the truck sits. It still looks like it has 600 lbs sitting in the trunk! Any ideas would be very helpful as to why I didnt fix the problem. Thanks

Is it side to side sag or front to back sag? If it is side to side, you need to turn your drivers side torsion bars up to get rid of it. On my 97 I replaced both rears only to still have the drivers side lean. I found this out form a Ford mechanic. With the gas tank and driver in that side it causes severe fatigue to the torsion bars.

You could try to put an add a leaf in the pack, or put on extended shackles.
