My 99 XLT has a wobble in the rear view mirror, it has the auto delay feature. I did pop it off and see the metal windshield holder and the clip inside the plastic housing.

I suppose I could carefully bend the clips in a bit for a better secure fit on the windshield post?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

John

Got allen wrench?

I'll check for allen head screw...

When I removed the mirror assembly, I did not remove the plastic cover that is over the clip.

The plastic assembly contained a small photo sensor (for auto headlamp on/off delay)

So I did not want to go too far less I damage a critical component or wire.

I will pull it again and check for an allen head screw, makes sense for adjustment as the wobble is in the bracket that attaches to the windshield attachment base.

Not that easy....

No allen screw adjustment:mad:...... but did tweak the inside clip, so we shall see.;)

This may sound crazy, but it worked for me. I pulled the mirror off and noticed the main problem causing the vibration is that the "clip" has gotten loose from the main mount. I shot some Guerilla Glue between the clip and the base, let it set a few hours and then reinstalled the mirror. Vibration seems to be gone!!! Odd solution, but that glue will hold just about anything.
