I have 3rd party warranty with 30% deductible on parts. (0% on labor)

Had my rear wheel bearings whine at just 140k kms. I literally got to the dealer one day before my warranty exired. They managed to put it through and quoted me <200 for parts (so I'd had to pay only about $60).

So anyway, they started doing it then he called me and said they can't take it off because the screw is rotten and there's no way it will come off. The only solution is to replace the "whole thing" [keep in mind I'm not good with car terminology so I can't be any more precise as to what "whole thing" means!!!].
Bottom line is I had to decide whether I still want the repair with total parts cost close to $2,000. Of which I would need to pay 30%.
I told him no way, I keep spending thousands on repair and the whole truck is a money pit. As I said, warranty is now over so I can't really change my mind, this was the last chance.

I took the two bearings (ONLY bearings, nothing else) off him hoping I might find some geek who can magically fix my car.

From what I read in the forums it seems this is not an easy job and involves a lot of hacking and one-time-use parts.

You guys are much better at this stuff, maybe someone could give me precise rockauto.com part #'s for everything else I might need in order to keep the costs to minimum.

thx
Greg

PS. The reason I can't explain the problem is because
a) I don't know car parts
b) The guy explained the whole thing to me in german. (I'm in Switzerland)

But basically the screw we are talking about is the big one in the middle, it kind of holds the axle in place.

dealer replacement failed........

Am I missing some part of the story????? I am thinking that they are talking about the upper A arm that can be near impossible to remove. Can't imagine a problem with spindle nut. $700 to get it done in another country seems like a deal to me.
