:us:What is the proper size of the rear windshield wiper? I have looked at many parts stores and they are all giving either a 12, 13, or 14 inch size. Also my wiper works but is not actually wipping the water off the window. Like the wiper isn't making contact. Does anyone have any ides on the fix. This is the only problem with my truck.

I'm willing to bet your wiper arm needs a good cleanig and lubricating.

When too much dirt & crap builds up in the hinge it can't move like it needs to and allow it to keep contact on the glass.

the bushings on the motor must be worn, or loose, if you can´t service them o r they are gone, you need to grind of two "fingers" or bumps or whatever on the base of the arm, they limit the bending angle, that´s why if bushings are gone and the fingers limit the travel or swivel of the wiper arm joint, it won´t contact the glass, do a search, there are lots of threads about it with pics.

is it a winter blade? i had the same prob with mine. winter blades don't "arch" as much as summer blades and there is a slight arch to the window itself and mine would only clean a 2-3 inch area on my rear window. i changed back to a summer type blade and no more problem.

The best fix for this problem is to remove about 1/8" of metal from the blade stop. Do a search on this forum. There is a post with pics of where to remove the metal. Use a Dremmel or hand file. Did mine well over a year ago and hasn't missed a drop since.

On my explorer the rear wiper keeps getting stuck under the glass door on the rear hatch. does anyone know how i could correct this? thanks
