Rear Windshield Wiper Q's for '00'

I have a couple of questions about the Rear Windshield Washer for the 00 explorers. I haven't found anything previously posted that could answer my questions.

1. Where is the resevoir for the rear wiper? Or does it feed off the main one in the engine compartment?
2. I know that there were a lot of problems with the wiper motor for 02. My question is: Is it easy enough for me to replace myself? My mother never took her's back to get it fixed and I don't want to spend the money like I did on the wife's XLT. I've found the parts online for cheap but what is the labor like? Plug and Play?

I appreciate the help.

well the resevoir for a 1st gen is in the jack location, with the filler neck above the left tail light with the hatch open.

In the Gen2 its one resovoir in the front. I neve heard of the wipers on the gen3 having problems. If the motor is out then it should be a easy enough job to do yourself.

2nd gen has the rear resivior in the jack thingy same as 1st... the fill hole is over the rear drivers taillight undre the lift gate

Really? It must be different with 96 V8 (yours) compared to 97 SOHC (mine). I am quite sure I have mine in the front.

well I just filled it up yesterday.. so if it ain't the rear resivior then the two manuals I have are wrong and I've been putting in magic disapearing fluid...

2000 has one resv.

My 99 has only one reservoir and it is under the hood.

me too 99 sport SOHC
but my old 95 xlt had one in the back....

I think Ford went to 1 resevoir in '98 or late '97. My '03 Sport only has the one in the front also. I do miss the rear tank that my '95 had.

The front tank gets emptied faster since both front and rear runoff 1 tank.

That's why you get the signature service at Jiffy Lube ;)
I forget I even have washer fluid untill I need it and it's always there an always full. Of course they are not allowed to touch anything except oil and that. But I'm just picky that way.

Once they actually failed to tighten the oil drain plug. I was in for quite a surprise the next morning when 2.5 quartz of oil were found on the garage floor. Now I inspect everything before they pull my truck out of the bay.

That should be reason enough to never use these places.

It is! But living in the city with limited space and a rental home, I am forced to allow others to do fluid changes. I guess I could try to do it spotlessly, but it's not likely knowing me  Besides it costs about the same, and I am that annoying customer that stands next to you and watches you work. At least after the oil plug deal.

Every time I go to the dealer they fill it up no charge.

The '00s are notoruious for rear wiper problems. I have to wiggle mine up and down for it to work, and then it'll work just then, after a while it won't work again. If it's cold enough though it will work on it's own.
