Hey guys,

I have done a quick search but no body seems to have the same problem as me..

Something in my rear window wiper motor seems to have given up. When I flick the dash switch, the wiper completes its cycle, but 'jams' about half way thru the return cycle. It (the motor) then makes a weird shuddering noise, and the wiper arm vibrates. If I grab the arm and move it to the left (mimicking the first stroke), the wiper motor takes over and the above scenario repeats. The only way to get it to stop is to manually place the arm in a certain position (at about 45*).

Any ideas or places to start looking for a fix?

Thanks!

The gears are probably stripped. I have never has one apart, but those who have had similar problems just replace the motor assembly.

You can try taking it apart and post what you find on here.

ok, sweet.
I may just disconnect the wiper arm and or motor for now. We use the tailgate/glass a lot so it isn't of much consequence to me.

If I do get around to rebuilding/swapping it I'll post a How To thread.

I've only fixed the rear Wiper Motor on a Blazer.. I bet they are similar.

I have a picture of the internals of that Motor assembly if you want a heads up on what you may see inside the Ford version. send me your e-mail.
It does sound like you have a partially stripped gear.
You say it always stops in the same spot on the return cycle?
