Rear wiper won't work

How do I access the rear wiper assembly to see if I can fix it? When I press the rear wiper button water does squirt out but when I turn the knob the wiper doesn't move at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

flip the cover up and make sure it sits on the spline correctly, adjust the 10mm nut there after.
listen for motor working first.

The rear wiper on Explorers is notoriously bad.

FYI, the 911 forum is for emergencies whereby your Explorer doesn't run or is in danger of melting down. Rear wiper malfunction doesn't really qualify. Welcome to the site. It's the best source of Explorer info on the web.

Indeed... hardly a 911 issue. Run a search and you'll find WAY more info than you wanted to.

Alot of times the wiper just needs a little WD40 and move it a little with your hand. Mine got stuck because it was never used. After I did this it worked fine.

Moving to the Stock 1995-2001 Explorer section of this forum. Like people said, the Explorer 911 section is dedicated for those situations where your truck is currently disabled. For example, it doesn't move when in gear or doesn't start. Please refer to http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143875 so you understand the rules of the Explorer 911 section.

Before you rip into the wiper motor assembly, it may be a bad relay. On the passenger's side frame rail up in the engine compartment are two relays that control the washer/wiper assembly. If one goes bad, the wiper won't work. Unfortunately, you can't just swap the relays to see if that's the problem because they work in series with each other. I had the same problem with my '01 XLS, and the relay turned out to be the problem.
