rebuild Transmission Question?

I just got back my 91 XL after having the tranny rebuild and a new cooler installed for $1010 I have to say I thought the cooler would be a lot bigger, Anyways driving it off the lot it drove very good shifts and all. As I drove on the freeway it did really good, but then came the California traffic that I can't stand, I guess the tranny started to heat up again and then started my problem. Everytime traffic lightened up a lilttle, as I pressed the gas to accel I get the damn high RPM's, and my tranny is basically slipping again.

My question is can the heat alone cause my tranny to start slipping again, or is it a problem with the rebuild? Also will putting a new bigger cooler with the fan and all help me in this case. Also I noticed a small drop of tranny fuild about to drop off the pan, would this help with anything.

well........... yes heat will but it has to be fairly extreme did they change the torque convertor? did they flush the lines? and the most important question is did they do a complete rebuild or did the just replace the end result failed part and not find the source of the problem? who did it was it a well known company?

My step brother's uncle did the rebuild, he has been in the bussiness for well over 20 years, and i'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing.
This is what it says on the write up.
1. rebuilt transmission with converter.
2.cooler installation

1.torque converter-$130
2.A4LD 90-on master kit w/steels-$250
3.transmission fuild-$30
4.Midium Cooler-$52

i would say you have something going on maybe a bad valve body or a stuck servo piston or solinoid i would have them do a line preasure test while you are driving it and see what the preassure does when it starts "slipping" also some times the case wears out and its real easy to miss too

I just got done driving the X after letting the tranny cool for a couple of hours, its riding like the first time my parents test drove it back in 91. So is it just a heat problem? What should I do to correct this problem? I'm thinking of buying a bigger cooler with the electric fan, and maybe the extra filter I think those should really help.
