This is a purely hypothetical question because the reality is i will probable never have the time or money to do this but what the hell we can all still dream.
If and when my v6 SOHC tires out and the fact that I havent built an engine since i was 16 I have given it some thought of building an engine with my son.
I would want it to be a relatively easy swap into the Explorer i.e. something that came out of one. 4.6 or 5.0 i was thinking, but what year and what transmission?
The vehicle has 33 MTR and eventually will have 35's but probable no larger. I also use it for towing a 3500 Gross lbs Coleman pop trailer.
Assuming the use of the Vehicle I would also like recommendations for Gearing, Cam, Exhaust and such.
Given that I am in CA i would like to keep it SMOG legal also which i think means means it needs to be from a newer similar model Explorer or equivalent.
