Red Rock Lights?

So I had this crazy idea for rock lights... I just changed my trailer over to LED trailer lights, they are a jewel like lens and super bright! So what if I switched to LED red lights for rock lights? With the theme it would look cool...I think:rolleyes:

Dumb or no?

^^^ well not sure if you know or not but..... when it says 6000k that means the "color" rating where as the mcd means basiccaly how bright is it, like a typical 10mm led is like 55,000mcd.

Shorty your a nerd when it comes to LEDs! :salute: I want all my dome lights LEDs like yours! Project?

see what you need to do is get 1 watt led (stars) or 3 watts like from here
http://cgi.ebay.com/5x-White-High-P...39:1|66:4|65:15|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

then get 1 watt or 3 watt led driver from here

NOTE: each one of those will work for up to 3, one or three watt leds
these are WAY BRIGHT

to be honest it will cost a little more then the smaller leds but these will BLOW them out of the water, all you have to do is mount then solder the connections on and make then water proof (ie liquid rubber).

Nice job guys

I love the brake light idea.

Once I get my 4x4 Truck i'll be setting up rock lights in it too. I'm definitely going to do that spotter safety mod too.

To make it road worthy/ DOT compliant, I'll have the lead to the red LED strip hooked up to the switched circuit for my rock lights, so when the rock lights are off, the strip doesn't light up. I'll try to see if I can draw up some schematics.:salute:

I would just have it on a switch, or better yet have a cover for it like you do off raod lights. I did mine in a clear lens, so it dosn't show the red when not on. I don't drive it on the street much, so if I did I could just put a piece of duck tape over it;) Mine in wired straight into the BOO switch

Some of the Chevys I think in Canada had brake lights hooked up to the front turn signals, so when you braked your turning indicators lit up.

hmmmm, sounds odd, and confusing.
