I've never heard of this problem (long time lurker).
Or if it even is a "problem,"
Remote locked the Explorer tonight and it beeped twice???

97 Explorer XLT, btw

Obviously they're supposed to beep twice, since there's no way it did that on it's own. But mine has never done that before!! I was so surprised lol. I live in the rust belt so I figure maybe I've got a relay that's corroded or is the style that work with resistance and heat and is just tired so normally it only completes one go and doesn't get to the second beep. Or something similar.
The thing that I find interesting is this has never happened until today and today was the third or so day we have had below 20 degrees F. I assume the cold is affecting a relay or something to that affect which is so funny to me and I thought you'd all find that silly too lol.

So I'm not crazy and nothing is malfunctioning *now*, right? It's supposed to beep twice while flashing the lights when you hit the lock button after it's already been told to lock once? And if that's the case, what relay do I need to replace so it does this all the time? Two beeps is so much nicer. :P thanks lol

2 beeps means a door switch is ajar and system is not atmed. Could be rear glass switch. One beep says system is armed.

Hahahahah, solved. My friend's truck who I compared it to's door hinges are tired and it's always ajar.
And I may or may not have closed my seat belt in the door 🤦‍♂️
I actually disabled my rear hatch circuit, for the rear glass in particular, for camping. It is not very stealthy to have the lights blaring inside when it's 1 AM and you want some fresh air LOL
Thank you for the help!
