Hello everyone!

I tried searching the forums, although I did find excellent info regarding programming the keys/remotes/keypad, I am left with one problem. Before I knew about this site, I went to the local Ford dealer here and had them make me a new (extra key) and program an extra remote. I bought my Explorer Sport used from a Chevy dealer, and it only came with one key and remote. Well, after the Ford dealer programmed my new remote, the old one no longer works. The service tech said it was working, so they swapped the battery ... nothing. Then they tried a new remote ... nothing, only one would program. The service tech said they would need to reflash the computer to erase 'the overloaded codes in the system'. Is he correct? Is there a way for me to reflash it at home? I know alot about Chevys (especially Camaros :) ), but not enough about Ford, let alone Explorers. :( Thanks for any help guys.

You have to reprogram both remotes at the same time, otherwise your old one won't work.

I've never heard of reflashing a computer because of remote codes, I think that's a bunch of BS.

Have you tried cycling the ignition and programming them both at the same time? That how you have to do it. I think the 99's are cycled 8 times.. then just hit the lock or unlock buttons on all the remotes.

Welcome by the way! And you don't happen to know a Juan Lara from the Simi area, do ya??

Nope, can't say I know a Juan Lara in Simi, thanks for the welcome. :)

Correct, when programming both remotes at the same time, only the new one takes the code ... the old no longer wants to. When the service tech used two new ones, it would either take one or the other, not both.

Could use a little more help here, thanks! :)
