OK i have a weird vibration coming from what feels like the front end. Just replaced balljoints/tierods 2 months ago. i only feel the vibe when im going 55+mph. the weird thing is if i hit a bump on the highway that compresses the suspension it goes away until the truck stabilizes and then it goes back to vibrating. ive got a feeling its a u-joint. im gonna check them when i get off of work. if it is the front will i damage anything by removing the front driveshaft for my 100 mile ride home. oh i forgot to mention its a 95 limited

could be a ujoint, wiggle and try to move your driveshaft around both ends and if it moves its ur ujoints

yea im going to before i leave work. no way im gonna try to drive 100 miles home like this. i work at a hotel so i might just have to spend a few days here till i get it fixed. if it turnes out to be the front driveshaft would i be able to drive the truck with no risk of damage to the front end since its 4x4 not awd?

i'd fix to be sure, depending if it just started in the past day or so u could probably dirve that far, pull over every 20 miles or so and check it, the experiences i had of ujoints going was hitting the gas off a stand still not continously going and then giving, 79 trans am driveshaft fell when i hit the gas off a stand still

When was the last time the wheels were balanced correctly? I would do that before jumping into thinking its the drive shaft.

well first ill say i found the problem. i figured it was the u joint since i replaced them last year with the cheepest ones i could get because i was in the middle of a road trip and strapped for cash. this morning when i got off of work i put the front tires on the curb and took a look at the u joints. they all looked fine but i had play so i took a look at the bolts. mind you i checked torque after the first 25-100-1000 and 3000 miles after i swapped them(i know a little overkill but i wanted to make sure it was good.) well the bolts holding the forward u joint to the yolk were backed out almost a half inch. ive tightened the bolts gonna check every 25 miles on my way home. NOTE FOR EVERYONE OUT THERE USE LOCKTITE AND RECHECK YOUR TORQUE. cuz if those bolts drop out on the highway ur up the trail without a driveshaft. oh and i balanced the wheels about a month ago.
