Hey guys.

I am in the process of changing my valve cover gaskets. In the process I busted the EGR tube flush with the exhaust manifold. Is there a way to bypass the EGR? I don't mind a CEL just don't want the truck to run bad.

put a galvenized pipe cap in the hole on the exhaust manifold. I did this with mine. No problems out of it. Been about 2 years. I just let the EGR pipe hang there.

Or go to the dealer and buy a $20 part they typically stock and replace the EGR pipe. The EGR is important for gas mileage and performance on an EGR equipped engine.

My EGR pipe (just the pipe) was going to cost me $85 from the dealer. That's why I just capped it off. That was on my 94 X. Not the 98 I have on my user profile.

Call around, thats 3 times what they get around here.
You can also buy it online.

If you remove the EGR hose you should also eliminate the EGR valve and the pressure sensor:
