it looks like in order to bolt the tow hooks ive bought, im gonna have to remove the plastic piece on the front bumper. The yellow in the picture is where there is room available to mount the tow hooks on the frame. Have many of yall removed this piece? Is this common to do when trying to install tow hooks on my 96 X? Anybody think itll look goofy without it?

i've seen it done and beauty is in the eye of the beholder...not sure about your model but i have seen people rig a tow receiver there instead and have one in the rear...you then could mount a hook or oxbow onto it and then you would have hook up points for both front and rear, just slide the hitch into which ever one you need...just an idea

Dont worry.. If you need tow hooks than you've already managed to leave half the plastic air deflector in the bush already. Just rip whatever is left of it off. Oh and youll also want to loose the fog lights befor you hit the trail..

my bumper was all one peice of plastic, I cut it in half with a jig saw.

nah the piece that is outlined with red is just mounted on the actual bumper and will come off without having to cut it...

Ya the foglights will have to come off because they hang down from a bracket thats connected to the frame....would look kinda stupid to me :thumbdwn:

theres bolts on the inside of the bumper that attach to the clips on the plastic, mine were rotted so I just tore it off :D

I took mine off when I did my body lift. I didn't feel like putting it back on, so I left it off. Check out of rig registry if you want some pics. I think it looks decent. I've seen a few stock exploders up here @ Purdue like that as well.

Mine is off, the only bad thing is the radiator hangs down low. So i put a skid plate on mine. As for your fog lights do you guy's in TX really get that much fog anyway?

I took mine off and it looks good. I relocated my stock fog lights into the holes next to the liscence plate by fabricating some simple brackets.

Chris,

Do you have a drawing or schemtics for your skid plate? It looks great. How did you attach it to the frame on the bottom?
