You'll be fine, just disconnect the battery first thing.
The ribbons can be difficult to remove, just remember, pull on the clip, not the ribbon. The clip will come off the old switch with the ribbon. Then just push it onto the new switch.
I just did this today. I had trouble using the needle nose, but found that I could wiggle the clip and expose a gap with a ridge between the mount and the clip end. I inserted my knife blade here and gently levered out one side of the pin plug then reversed and did the other side. This worked very well on the new switch, which seems reluctant to come apart. The rest of the instructions are excellent.
i replaced mine a few years back - one caution i read said to place the airbag facing up when you remove it - it it should come to life, you don't want a missile
After you disconnect the battery, it takes about 1 minute (10 would be better for safety) to discharge the backup capacitors. After that it is safe to work around/connect/disconnect the airbags. Do not use any type of memory-saver or backup supply during this (or go poking around with your power-probe). Obviously it is a good idea to keep the front and back of the bag pointed away from you when handling it.
