took me about 2 hours. then after i was all done and cleaning up i noticed the old heat shield from the original bushing. i have no heat shield on the new bushing. how long before that becomes a problem? the truck wasn't going back up in the air tonight. i should probably put that heat shield on this weekend heh?...

YES! The heat sheild helps to prevent the bushing from melting, due to the extreem heat created by the cat. Install it ASAP.

i am aware that the heat shield is there for a reason. i got 180,000 plus miles out of my original bushings. the driver bushing was actually fine still. just the passenger bushing was shot. most probably due to the heat from the cat. but, it has been exposed to that heat fot 11 plus years and near 200,000 miles. thinking i can get away with out running the heat shield for the rest of the life of the truck. i hope i'm not driving this in 10 years, lol!! i know it should put the shield on though...

this weekend...

2 hours is pretty good:D

Depends on which bushings you put on. Rubber deteriorates a lot quicker than polyurethane in the presence of heat...
