I was thinking about replacing the the 2 upstream oxygen sensors in my 1998 Explorer 5.0 which now has about 115k and from what I know it has the original O2 sensors (I bought it at 60k). During the winter I was consistently getting a P0153 code (slow O2 sensor response) which seems to have gone away now that the weather is warmer but I still want to change them hopefully for an increase in gas mileage. I tend to get around 14-15 MPG even with mostly highway driving and if I can get just a 2 MPG increase with new O2 sensors and cleaning my MAF then it would be worth the $90-100 to do it. Anyone want to chime in and tell me what you think and if you have done it has it helped your mileage?
