Replacing RF SLA axle bearing in the car?

:) Which one?
2000 V8 XLT AWD. I hav a bad bearing in the RF (passenger side) of the front axle. I have it pulled down to the point of having the CV shaft out right now. Looking in the housing there is a seal and then the bearing is about 3 inches behind that. The stub axle is still in.

A couple of questions - Can I just pull the stub axle out of the housing without dropping the spider gear inside the differential? If the axle does not come out then how the heck do I replace this bearing? I imagine if the shaft comes out then I will need an inside puller to extract the bearing from 3 inches back in the tube? Please give me a little help here?
