I own a 2000 Ford Ranger 2wd and it has 150k on it. I would like to know if there is any tricks to replacing the 2 spark plugs on the driver side toward the firewall. Any information or help would be nice, Thanxs. Plugs and wires never been changed yet do to the looks of getting to the plugs to be to difficult. This is a 2.5L and the intake manifold is wraped around them. This 4 cyl takes dual sparkplugs.

Not sure on the Ranger, but on the Explorer the best way to get to the hard to reach plugs is from the wheel well. You may need to pull the plastic wheel well lining aside.

I agree with Rick and MUST add this. I bought my rig with 169k on it with the original plugs, When I went to change them I snapped 6 out of the 8 with putting almost zero force on them. A little wd 40 (or your favorite lube) and a little heat might save you a ton of time and headache in the end.
Just my opinion.

Thanks Rick, I will go and see if i can locate the plugs from this angel. It looks though as if i got to take the manifold apart to get to them though. Im hopeing there is another way.

Sounds like you are referring to the 4.0L V6 engine because I have not seen many Explorers with cyl engine. I don't think that will work for the 2.5L-4 cyl engine.

No choice

Well, it looks like there is no other way around it, the intake manifold has to come off. Man this is going to take some time to just change two spark plugs out. booo :(
