Replacing transfer case

It was in 2h when I started. I tried to turn it counterclockwise into 4h, when I couldn't, I turned it clockwise into 4l, then tried to turn it counterclockwise back into 2h, and couldn't get it to click, the shaft points just above 2h, but I can't get it to turn any further.

Holy Sh*t, I finally understand. You cant turn it counterclockwise from 4L to 2H, it dosen;t go around a full 360*, it goes clockwise from 4L 270* all the way to back to 2h,,,,,, I think I'm onto something, I'll keep you posted.

OK, so now I finallly understand what everybody has been telling me. You can't manually turn the shaft from 4L to 2H going counterclockwise. I got my case back in 2 wheel, and it will still shift(manually) into all gears, so, no swapping of transfer cases for me and I have a good spare. Thanks Maniak for the help, it took a while to reach my thick head, but I got it.

And to anybody else (newbies, like me) who reads this thread, make sure you fully understand how stuff works before you go messin' with it, it will save you a lot of headache and/or money. Thanks again guys.

I actually learned a lot, more importantly if I don't know something, search,read,search read LOL I am going to try and find a manual kit, I know there's some out there.

And before you ask, Yes, the Manual shift transfer case and Automatic shift transfer cases are different. As in, you can't use a manual shift linkage on the automatic transfer case..
