resetting the oil change warning on the computer.

Does anybody know the secret combination for resetting the oil change warning on the computer?

My last service they forgot to do it AGAIN!!! So I want to know how to clear it as they forget 9 times out of 10.

Isn't it:
Open the door
Open drivers window 7/8 of an inch
Roll up one trouser leg, leg leg works better
Hoot the jingle bells tune with the horn
Turn the radio on and off three times
and then press reset while rubbing your belly in a circular motion.

If thats not it I'd appreciate what it is!!!!

Thanks guys

the reset procedure is in the owners manual....

Ok I have three big square buttons: Info, setup, Reset
Trying everything in the manual, Still cannot get to Setup menu!
Kinda strange the manual shows a pic of a small button labeled Trip/Reset. Is this what im supposed to be looking for?
There must be something keeping it from working.

Does your setup button just not work? Maybe a bad switch itself or a bad connection somewhere. I've only had my ex for 2 oil changes and have by no means memorized how to reset but each time I changed the oil I figured it out in ~ 30 secs.

Altogether new instructions needed for a 2012 Explorer with Message Center Cluster in the center of gauges.

If you need the instructions for that vehicle, here you go:

When oil life is set 100% it is set to 5,000 miles/180 days which ever comes first. you can decrease the percentage by 10% all the way down to 10% IE 100% 90%80%70% so on this is how:

Oil Life Start Value — with a 2012 (or 11) Message Center Cluster

On the Cluster display,
Choose the Settings menu, then
Choose the Convenience menu, then
Choose Oil Life Reset, then
Select the 100% Oil Life (for 5000 mile interval, or less for a shorter interval)
Press OK for 5 seconds (display will count up showing a progress bar with five segments).

Back out of the menu system, you're done.

I wish

I wish, the only button that works is the one on the right the reset, i used my Ford shop manual to checkout the wires and connectors and it looks like I need to replace my instrument cluster,I already replaced the switch. ford wants 200+ just to mate it to the Ecu, thats not gona happen.

That's great info. You should make a new thread with it in the 2011+ Explorer forum so those owners can better benefit from it. :salute:
