Hi everyone. I had some new tires installed today, and after getting home and inspecting further I found damage on one of the rims. I’m somewhat unsure if it was damaged during install or if it existed before and I never noticed it. I probably should note that I had larger (wider) tires installed - factory were 235/65R18 and I had 265/60R18 tires installed. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Im wondering - does the damage appear minor to you guys? Would you be concerned and remedy it, or should I not worry?

Thanks for the help!

Any bending to the rim could cause problems. It may just be slow leak over time or worse case scenario a blowout at speed. While it looks minor to me I would look at getting it repaired or replaced. But definitely take it to a someone that can give you a professional opnion or take it back to the shop that did the tires and see what they say about it.

Looks like you have a chrome skin over a steel wheel. If you can confirm, this is probably cosmetic damage. I'd take a small piece of wood and tap it back in place with a small hammer.

It's just the chrome overlay that's damaged. I have a couple of those as well. Doesn't effect anything but I sure hate looking at them.

Ahh okay. I feel dumb now. It’s basically just a wheel cover. I tried your idea and it helped - tapped a piece of wood with a hammer. Doesn’t look as bad now.

Thanks everyone.
