My brother bought a 1998 Honda Accord and need it to be towed home, since it was out of state. We could either use a Dodge Ram, F-150 or the X. Since the X is much more comfortable than the pickups it got elected. The trailer was a 16' landscape weighing in at 2000 lbs, and the Honda weighted 3200 lbs. So we figured we were towing 5800 lbs. total. The trip was 300 miles loaded. The Explorer did fantastic, we were able to do 65-70 on Pennsylvania interstates, which had some very steep grades. I was really impressed with its performance, on the flat sections doing 75 I forgot the trailer was there. O ya, it was a torrential rain storm the entire way. ;)

i myself am also very impressed with the towing ability for v6 explorers... last week i towed a dodge pick up out of a sticky situation !!!!!

explorers have hidden talents lol

I would take my 6cyl X over my V8 150 any day for towing.
