Roll Pan

Ok, Yeah I meant cutting on both sides of the plate box and then just butting them up to each other.
Where did you find a steel pan???

Hartman, i realize this is going to take alot of time. this is something that i am willing to do. im sick of the stock bumper. i painted the trim white, and it still looks :rainbow:. i would have painted the actual bumper white also, but i didnt want to put any extra time in something im gonna replace this spring.:)

That is pretty much the same as I found on sirmichaels.com.
EDIT: That is the Sir Michales rollpan.
I am sure you can shorten the metal section by cutting and then stitching it back together at the correct length. The way I understand it the end caps mount to the bed.
So you plan to mount them(the end caps) to the rear quarters, but you will still have a gap where they meet the steel center section, correct???

Chris

correct. the endcaps will be molded into my Dead Link Removed

Word. Good luck, I am sure you will make it look good.

Heres what I found out today...
I can have a metal guy build a custom pan for $400 - $500 then I would need to take it to a body shop and have them do all the body work on it and paint it... probably another $200 - $300.
or
I can buy an F150 pan and have a body shop chop it up and make it work. That would probably cost about $500 in labor plus the cost of the pan.

What does the F150 pan cost?

Either way I look at it, it will probably be near a grand for a roll pan. Thats a sh!tload of money!!!

They also told me $300 to shave my rear wiper.

hmmm

im pretty tight with the body shop guy im working with, but he only wants 175 to shave (weld shut the holes) the whole tailgate (minus the handle) and repaint it.... and thats getting rid of wiper, emblems, keyhole...not to mention red is the most expensive color of paint....id keep looking for a different shop

Yeah, this isnt the shop thats owned by the guy I know. He wont do it. This is another shop. I've seen work done by this guy and its really good, but I guess its a little expensive.

Oh, and to mold my hood blister into my hood will cost about $600.

if you want to shave your wiper, i bet you could find someone with an xl who would be willing to trade... maybe

it shouldn't be any different for a pre-95 because i got rear ended and the only bumper in town at the junkyard was from a 92, it fit just like the old one, although the pre 95 rear bumper had a thick extra plate behind the actual bumper for added protection, and about the safety issue, i highly doubt that a stock 95-up rear bumper actually helps that much, its as thin as paper not much protection, i got hit at like 5 mph and the bumper, side chrome piece and some of the body that was hidden under the side chrome piece was ruined.

oops, i neglected to notice a second page, i thought i was responding to the last question but it was on the end of the FIRSTH page....now i feel dumb

the SirMichaels pan is $179. you can find one quite a bit cheaper elsewere, but this is the only steel one i found.

What are the reasons for not using a Ranger pan? Is it too short?

Not only is it too short, it's basically flat. It would be like starting with a piece of regular stock that has a little bit of a roll in it. The F150 pan is a much better piece to start with.

i was talking to nick (timestandstill77) and he said he has a roll pan made (not installed yet), but they used a chevy s-10 roll pan, then just made the corner pieces out of fiberglass....

Virtually any roll pan will work if you customize it. The biggest problem I have is finding one without the license plate cutout.

Does anybody know what size rims the guy in the black X has??????

the one wiht suicide doors and a roll pan? 22"s
