Hello, I have a quick question, I was wondering if you guys know why my truck does not roll forward when it is in drive. What I mean is that most cars will roll forward if you dont have your foot on the brake or on the gas. Mine does not roll forward and sometimes rolls back if im on a slight hill. THe car has 193,000 miles on it too.

Thanks

Can't answer it, exactly....but when a vehicle "rolls foward"...it's not rolling, its moving foward, even without hitting the gas, it still has power at idle, and that's what's pulling it foward.

And if you're on a hill, it rolls backwards for obvious reasons, gravity is pulling it down.

Thanks for the response I am well aware of gravity lol, but I was just wondering for the most part because i can sit at a stoplight without having the brakes on and it will just sit there like its in neutrel. Some one once told me it was either my idel speed or something with the fluid in my toqure converture.

The V8 torque converters are more loose than older Fords, that and possibly age or the idle is part of it. BTW, try shifting into 2nd on a hill, that should not allow it to roll backwords(V8).

I'll try that it doesnt realy bother me I was just trying to learn a little more about the truck.
