sct tuner...

no JBA does headers for both the 4.0 and the 4.6, i got mine on sale around christmas time for 350 shipped to my door in ak. when it comes time for the swap, hit me up for some work tips (the instructions are very poor and its probably a 3/5 on the difficulty scale.

Where did you get that deal? Need a lift to install? How long did it take you? How much did it wake the truck up?

i got mine from explorer express. You dont need a lift, but you do need a jack and some jack stands...the installation took me about 6 hours, about the same amout as the bad instructions says it should...the process involves undoing a motor mount on the passenger side, lifting the motor, removing 8 very hard to get to STUDS(not just the bolts!!, but for ease of things, remove the bolts and then the stock manifold, then use a 4mm ratchet or ignition wrench to remove the studs, be carefull not to strip them or you will complicate things)...and then for the driver side you need to move the stearing knuckle and shaft out of the way...i sugjest you invest in some serious WD-40 cans, and let it sink in over night before you try this....i lost some low end torque, but it realy woke it up in the high rpm, check out some of my videos on youtube bud.

wagoner2 - what brand intake tube is that? And is that a oiled mesh filter, like the K&N type? It looks great, and adding 2.5 mpg would be even better.

I lifted out the stock filter box on my 4.6 and noticed the stupid small hole in the headlight header panel that the V8 is trying to suck air through. I also have a Town Car with a 4.6, and it's 'intake hole' behind the headlight is at least 4 inches in diameter! For now, I have that intake tube in the front of the filter box removed. Just doing that, I picked up about 1 mpg and it's got more power!

Problem now is it's pulling in hot engine compartment air at speeds (below 40 mph), and high IAT is not good! Above 40 mph, the Scanguage shows IAT the same as outside.

My next "zero dollar" mod is to make the hole behind the headlight larger and put a larger diameter tube on the front of the airbox without that restrictive part that goes inside the box.

I made the CAI on my truck, it is an oiled open ended "K&N" style filter.

Linky? I looked on your profile and didn't see anything, also searched for "zerodevil" on YouTube and nothing came up....

I just got my tuner! It has tunes for a 4.6L F-150 pre-loaded and I was wondering if I could use those on my Xpo?

Nevermind just heard back from SCT and they can not be used...

Unlikely. Flashers are locked to a specific PCM code.

It is unlocked and says unused with 5 changes left. I guess I need to get some one to write some tunes for me...?

Check, and Thank You. Sent them an e-mail, can't wait to hear back from them and turn this b@#*h up!

I have a SCT Xcal 3 tuner that I might be willing to sell. I have it tuned for my 02 4.6L, but thinking about going back to stock.
If anyone is interested, email me

Tune Loaded! Was a pain in the butt, got to know every part of the SCT Tuner front to back.

A BIG THANK YOU to James Henson from Henson Performance (www.hensonperformance.com) for not only writting an unbelievable tune for my truck, but taking the time to help me get it loaded when I was having some tech problems. He did not have to do any problem solving for me but was there to help at every hicup! He did all of this while dealing with some personal stuff, What a Guy! His tune not only fixed all of my issues, but turned my lazy truck into a mean ass street destroying sleeper. I have already put some unsuspecting souls to an early retirement.

If you are having any doubts about whether or not the SCT tuner is worth it, it is! Worth every penny! And all I have is an 87 octane tune on now can't wait to put the screws to it on a 94 octane tune...
