I found a SCT X-Cal 2 locally the packaging and the tuner itself say ford programmer but i have no idea what vehicle(s) it is for. i have the serial number and the unit has a CD and some papers with it. what is the low down on these tuners? i used to own a DHP tuner that was a laptop based program mainly for GM based vehicles.

my question is where can i find out the stats on this tuner and is $169 a good price? also can they be updated with different tunes?

if i can re-flash this to work for the trac and the total for re-flash and buy is less than that of a new one then ill jump

EDIT: the serial number is A101807100009E96 that is the number with the bar code under that sticker is the number 9400

first off, if your buying a used tuner, i would make sure it is unlocked. in other words, the guy that is selling it has returned his car to stock. otherwise you will own a door stop, and not be able to program it. when i google a sct 9400 tuner, it looks to me its for a mustang, but i can be wrong.

number of vehicles

In addition to being locked because the last vehicle loaded has not been returned to stock there is also a limit to the number of vehicles used on. On my Power Flash the limit is 5. There is no limit to the number of times I can load a new tune into my Sport. But if I were to switch back and forth between two vehicles, each time I swapped loads from one vehicle to the other counts as a different vehicle reducing the number remaining available from 5.

so in other words i'm better off going new for the 350-400 they cost new. got a feeling that the tuner is set up for a stang not a trac so 170+150+ what ever other cost for tunes hell brand new they're 380 maybe be better to pass unless its unlocked and for a trac

that is also a good point that i forgot about. if you know who your buying it from, your safe. i know i bought mine from a member on here last year, and i trusted him. he did not fail me, and it was what he said it would be. i got lucky, i know there are other people out there that have been screwed from buying a used one. choice is yours.
